Team GulfAir hopes to end its British GT Championship season on a high note next Sunday (28 Sep).GulfAir drivers Steve Wood, Stuart Scott and their Volkswagen Golf GTI will be in action on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, battling to claim a podium placing in the championship's GTC class.
It will be their final opportunity for a top-three result, and Scott is confident that the goal is achievable:
"We finished fourth in class at Knockhill and fourth again at Oulton Park, and on both occasions we were very close to the top three in class. We can do it at Brands Hatch if things go our way."
Sandy-based Scott, the MD of Cambridge Business Travel, believes that mechanical revisions made since the Golf's last outing, at Spa in Belgium, will enhance its reliability.
"The gearbox problems we suffered at Spa should not recur," he said, "and we are confident that the reliability the Golf enjoyed earlier in the season will return."
As always, Stuart will share driving duties at Brands Hatch with Ruislip racer Steve Wood.
Though the Brands race is the final British GT Championship event of the 2003 season, further track outings for the ART-backed Golf are planned for later in the year.
Among the possibilities are two rounds of the European Endurance Racing Club Championship.
