Eurotech Racing Unveils 2010 CBT Mustang With just a fortnight to go to the Britcar season opener at Brands Hatch, Eurotech Racing is applying the final touches to the revised CBT backed Mustang FR500 ahead of a planned shakedown at the MIRA Proving Ground next week.
The most obvious change is a new livery, which sees the car’s colour scheme change from red, white and blue, to a more subtle chrome, black and white.
Less obvious are the weight-reducing measures that have been taken over the winter – the main focus of the off-season work – but which should result in a significant increase in competitiveness.
“Sally has been on a very strict diet,” explained the car’s owner and driver Stuart Scott. “For instance, the glass windows have been replaced with polycarbonate ones and the doors are now carbon fibre. The old doors were 40kg each and these are now 5kg!” The Mustang will also feature a MOTEC engine management system and a flat-shift transmission.
Featured very prominently on the Production challenger is a new partner for 2010, Scalextric Digital.
One of Scott’s previous cars – the CBT/Apex Jaguar XKR GT3 – already features in the manufacturer’s product range, while the CBT Mustang and Camaro will also be modelled in 2010.
The Cambridge Business Travel boss will again be joined in the car by Eurotech Racing owner Mike Jordan and Steve Wood and is looking forward to the season; “We don’t yet know who we’re up against, but we’re confident that we’ll be a lot more competitive against the BMWs from the off this time. The Mustang was always going to be a two year program and we have definitely learnt from last year and moved the car forward" The Eurotech Racing CBT backed Mustang will also be making its way across the Atlantic after the Britcar season ends which will see it competing at The Daytona International Speedway in November.
